Introduction: This is a poem depicting a sinner's realization of the beauty and magnitude of the sacrifice of Christ. He starts out with his own personal agony, only to realize that in Christ is true freedom!
Hope of the Saviour
Lost in
the shadows,
I cried
in despair.
Trouble
around me,
No one
didst care.
Where is
the light,
A
comfort from pain?
Is there
a refuge,
Salvation
to gain?
Out of
the darkness, hope did appear
Taking
the form of something so dear.
Down
from the heavens, a Saviour did show
To set
free the prisoners in anguish below.
Our hope
in the night is the Saviour of old
Of whom
many stories and tales have been told.
Was He a
king or a servant to all
Heeding
quickly to the sinner’s call?
He is
the Lord, the King of all kings,
But yet
He came down to be the least of all beings.
God is
His Father and Heaven His home,
But He
forsook all and on earth didst He roam.
Holy was
He, never to stumble,
Pure and
upright, ever so humble.
He came
to earth to set sinners free
So that
with God, we may always be.
He gave
up His life, so that we may live.
His life
as an offering, to God He didst give;
Righteous,
perfect, sinless was He
So that
by His death we may be set free.
His gift
is salvation,
Atonement
for all.
His
blood covers sin
On all
those who call.
Delivered
from darkness,
Pure
light do I see;
Gone are
the shadows,
Praise God, I am free!!
